A History of Smeesters in Business

Thomas Smeester
Scott’s grandfather was a successful Denver business man. During his career, Thomas created a well known insurance brokerage. For 15 years he had the most successful agency for the Security Mutual Life Insurance Co. out of Lincoln, NE. He started Roosevelt National Life Insurance Co. in the late ’60s. He usually had 10-15 salesmen working for him at one time and was an outstanding speaker and motivator. “Grandpa always drove a Cadillac”, says Scott. “He was a tall and good looking man and his fun and loving personality drew you in. I remember he would visit our home and pull in the driveway in the big ol’ Caddi while my friends and I were playing and he’d reach into his pocket and give me some change. He was so cool!” |
| Larry Smeester
Scott’s father, Larry Smeester, spent over 40 years as a salesman in the freight industry. He officially retired in the spring of 2009 having sold for some of the most prominent companies in the industry, most recently a very positive relationship with Werner Enterprises for over 20 years, and received Salesman of the Year three times while there. “Shortly after college graduation I spent 3 years following the footsteps of dad”, says Scott. “I took a sales position for a freight company and called on many of the same people dad had known for 25+ years. Without fail, whenever I met somebody who knew my father, they would genuinely tell me how great of a man he is – not because of sales or business – but because of the stuff that really matters in life. Wow.” |

Kerry Smeester
In 1988, Scott’s only sibling Kerry founded the Denver based Meuran Design Group, a full service landscape architectural and planning firm. Since then he has continued to excel in project design, management, and construction. Much of Kerry’s project experience has consisted of site development and renovation of various commercial, institutional and industrial facilities throughout Colorado. |
| Scott Smeester
Since 1995, Scott has been helping business owners and CEO’s by creating stable cash flow streams using B2B consultative sales strategies and emerging Internet based technologies. Scott relies on a thorough consultation process to help small and start-up companies solve sales and business development related problems. He chose not to pursue civil engineering as his profession upon receiving his degree from Colorado State University, but the education has become one his greatest tools for properly defining a problem and determining solutions as well as testing mechanisms. |

Pierce Smeester
Scott’s firstborn son is already using his charm, good looks and refined vocabulary for closing sales and business deals. As a Tiger Cub Scout, he is a rising popcorn sales star and puts together the right people for closing trading card deals on the playground at recess. “That kid will take the Smeesters to a whole new level,” says Scott, “Pierce just has some magic mojo that’s hard to come by.” |
| Mason Smeester
Scott’s youngest, Mason, has no fear. He’s intelligent and has a good heart. “He’s a natural,” Scott says. “He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with… in great ways.” |
